Sailing the Adriatic Seas

Holy macaroni I'm back. This week has gone both really fast and really slow. We did a 7 night cruise around the Croatian islands, and it was it a hell of a ride. Split was the starting point, and we visited Hvar, Mljet, Dubrovnik, Korcula, Makarska, Brac and we're now back in Split. We have many stories, had a few learning curves, a few injuries and a lot of memories from our cruise, a few of which I will now list.

• Showering over a toilet is not fun.
• Sharing a cabin with Sophie is okay because she's little.
• Sleeping 2 to a tiny hot sweaty cabin with only a porthole that doesn't open is not fun.
• Croatia is beautiful, both the country and the people, its history seems very interesting and the money is weird.
• Someone has gone around all the islands and put up 2D mountains on all the islands.
• How to spot the locals from us: locals will be wearing heels, we will not.
• Crotian food uses heaps of oil and salt. A lot of which is now in our bodies.
• My favourite place was Hvar, and am already planning on going back next northern summer if I have enough funds (can supply bank details for those feeling generous)
• Three girls far from home can find WiFi anyway.
• Don't sit up in bed when your in the top bunk!
• Our shipmates were a mixed bunch, we were all similar ages but did not all have similar interests! For example, as Sophie pointed out: If you didn't want to be categorised as boring in the eyes on some you had to start drinking at noon and say the C-word a lot. This caused a bit friction that came to a head when a huge fight occurred at 4 in the morning with some fierce insults slung at the two fighting. Luckily I was in the sweaty cabin and didn't experience that. Lots of the other sailors were cool though and we got along with them pretty well.
• Due to needing to pass time whilst sailing, we've become experts at Uno, Scumbag, Speed and Solitaire.
• To be a pirate all you have to do is wear a stripy shirt and draw a scar on your face.
• The Olympics brings people together, in a loud, busy bar last night almost everyone was watching the TV which had the athletics on. Those shot-putters are large humans.

So as soon as we got off the boat we checked into our hostel, had showers, put the air con on and slept. And it was magical. Tomorrow we're off to the big boot in the Mediterranean: Siena, Florence, Rome and Venice. Looking forward to some European delights! Food and other. X
