goodbye London hello Poland!

The last few days in London were really lovely and busy and tiring! On the Saturday afternoon after Birmingham we took a stroll to Notting Hill (didn't see Hugh), and went to Portobello Markets, which are huge! I spent the whole time thinking how much mum would like it, admired the dogs, the antiques and the food! Naturally we ate there, I got seafood Paella and Claire a strawberry almond and nutella crepe. Pictures attached. In the window of a vintage show was a picture of Matt and Caleb from Kings of Leon! They'd been there so they signed a photo, so I went in there. May have been the highlight of the trip. Saturday night we were so knackered we got some Japanese and had an early night. crazy I know. Also best not to say knackered to an American because they'll think you said naked and things could get awkward.
Next day, Sunday, was our last, we went to Brick Lane, more food, so many hipsters, dinner at Jamie's Italian (as in Oliver! Thanks for stealing the tea towel for me Mary) and watched the England v Italy game in the Old Queens Head. Good game, upsetting result. Claire and I got really into it and were yelling things like 'what're you doing just keep the ball!' and 'you fat bastard' (thanks for that one Dad).
3.30am start Monday morning to catch our flight to Poland, which is really pretty but a bit... boring. We do have to commend ourselves for only getting lost twice in a non English speaking country. The main thing we learned in Poland is that Mike Tyson advertises an energy drink called Black, and rollerblading is cool.

Today we went to Auschwitz which was of course quite an experience. It was much bigger and overwhelming that I expected, and the fact the buildings and structures are so permanent made it obvious the Nazis expected them to be there for a very long time, scary stuff. It was sobering and interesting, and I recommend if anyone has a chance to go they should.

Am in Krakow airport now, Ios tomorrow! We're both looking forward to some sun as the paleness has only gotten worse in Europe.
Much love :)

Harry, Hov and Ye

Am writing this from Birmingham, about an hour and a half north of London, where we stayed for the night to see Kanye and Jay-Z perform Watch the Throne! It was truly amazing and insane and intense! It went for about 2 and a half hours (which explains why I don't have a voice anymore) and they played every song you could want! Otis, 99 Problems, Gold Digger, Flashing Lights, H to the Izzo, Runaway, Monster, Dirt Off Your Shoulder, Good Life, N***as in Paris x 6!!, and so on! It was a laser show, there was a crazy circle, a bit of Claire's heel is missing, and it was just, well, amazing.

In other news, we have had a pretty busy week! The studios where the Harry Potter movies were filmed is open to the public, with all the original sets and props, so obviously we went. We saw the actual Knight Bus, drank Butterbeer, stood in The Burrow, Diagon Alley etc! Claire bought some Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans, I got a vomit one. Delish. So that was Wednesday, Thursday we went to the Taste of London festival, ate our selves silly and ended up being interviewed and filmed for a Wedgewood film, and were given a free teacup and saucer worth about £30 ($50ish)! Very posh.
More shopping, some improv comedy which we howled with laughter to, met Laura's sister Lani who is very cool, and got engaged to a Steve Buscemi look alike (not my choice). Having an amazing time, but am quite nervous about Poland on Monday as we do not speak a hint of Polish!
Also fell backwards on the bus yesterday much to the dismay of the man behind me. Still just as clumsy in the UK as Perth.
Going out in London tonight, and finishing the UK off tomorrow night with the England v Italy game is an old English pub.
Missing everyone, am posting some post cards later today xx

LDN

Hello! Just on my way from Manchester back to London, I've been to visit my grandparents and family. Awkward situation re: the blog as its quite hard to write one without a computer or a phone that has Internet! But nevertheless whenever I can get wifi I'll use my trusty iPhone to put something on here.
Anywho, London is so far pretty magical! Claire and I are staying with our friend Mary in Islington close to Kings Cross Station, which you will know from popular culture references such as Harry Potter and Monopoly. On Sunday we went to just about every tourist attraction London has, sat on the lions at Trafalgar square, Claire proposed to me at Westminster Abbey where Kate and Wills married (needless to say I said yes), we watched the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace (the flag was up), discovered it costs money to sit on the deck chairs at Green Park, saw Michael Parkinson in The Wolseley, went to Boots and decided to become a police officer as the ones that guard No 10 have a pretty cruisey job (Ed I'm looking at you). Tonight we are watching the England v Ukraine game in a pub, and I'm pretty sure I'm already getting an accent.
Ta ra for now, will post again after the Harry Potter exhibition and the Taste Food Festival when we're our way I Birmingham to see Jay-Z and Kanye. Yeah!

(Hi Mum I miss you)
